Sito Manapnap in Barangay Binasaran, Malibcong, Abra is one of the program areas of CorDis wherein the Community-Based Integrated Development Program (CBIDP) is presently implemented. The community still practices organic agriculture wherein most of the sustainable agriculture technologies are observed. In order to preserve the practices and gain more knowledge on sustainable agricultural to produce enough food for the community, Manapnap Community Organization (MCO) requested to CorDis a training on Sustainable Agriculture. CorDis responded with the request by conducting an informal training needs assessment prior to the actual training to prepare the training design.

On May 26-27, 2014, the training was held which was attended by 30 male and female farmers. During the training focused on the important principles of sustainable agriculture, soil management and alternative pest management. During the training, the participants actively share their agricultural practices and the different problems that they are presently facing such as depleting soil fertility, plant pests and diseases and water scarcity for irrigation. The training ended with a practicum on preparing bio-sprays and organic fertilizers using locally available resources.

After the training, the participants realized that they have to preserve their ecosystem and enhance their traditional farming practices to become food sufficient.
