CorDisRDS Inc. and CARE Philippines turned over basic emergency equipment and first aid kits on September 8-9, 2021 to 4 barangays in Barlig and 2 barangays in Natonin Mtn. Province.
The turnover of emergency equipment is part of the Project INCREASE which started last 2019. The equipment that was distributed were needed equipment identified by the community members through the Community Risk Assessment (CRA) and Contingency Planning (CP) workshops that had been conducted in their respective barangay. The emergency and first aid equipment include generator, spine boards with strap, two-way radios, amplifiers, public awareness devices, bells, rope, sets of BP apparatus, first aid kits, among others.

The materials that were turned over aims to increase the resiliency of the barangays and capacitate them when a disaster hits their community.
The turnover ceremony that was conducted was successful through the efforts of barangay officials and livelihood beneficiaries in the different barangays. During the turnover ceremony in Kadaclan, Barlig on September 8 which was led by the Kadaclan Association of Barangay Officials (KABO), the barangay captains and barangay officials said that the equipment that they received was very much needed since their barangay DRRM fund is insufficient procure such emergency equipment.
In Natonin, the MDRRMO officer, barangay captain and barangay officials also appreciated the materials handed to them.
Kagawad Joseph Magranga, head of disaster management committee of Balangao said “Idi ket nu ada umay nga bagyo ket pukaw lang ti aramidek ngem salamat iti inted yu nga equipment ket haan akun marigatan nga maited ti pakdaar iti ili”. (Before, when a typhoon comes in our barangay, I only shout to warn community members but thank you for these equipment I will not struggle to give warning to my fellow community members)

The MDRRM officer, Ms. Soledad Nasudman also said “Uray nu kas anu kalaing mo nga ag search and rescue ngem nu awan equipment ket awan metlang maaramidam” (Even though you are skilled in search and rescue but if there is no equipment to be used you cannot apply your skills).

After the turnover to the different barangays there was an agreement that they will create policies and guidelines for the equipment given to them in order to properly manage the equipment and to ensure that it will be readily used during calamities.
