Members of the Kayan Unity for Development Organization (KUDO), individuals from the BLGU, and youth representatives participated in the Community Based Disaster Risk Management (CBDRM) training conducted in Kayan East Tadian Mountain Province on June 25-26, 2022. It was facilitated by the Cordillera Disaster Response and Development Services Incorporated.

The activity was successfully accomplished thru discussion of topics and workshops. One of the main emphases of the activity was on managing risks by strengthening capacities and lessening vulnerabilities with the involvement of different stakeholders within the community. In order to manage the risks, workshops on updating the hazard assessment tools as well as the capacities and vulnerabilities assessment was completed. The result of the workshop will be a basis for identifying possible and appropriate actions to increase the capacities and reduce the vulnerability of the community.

One among the practical action to take as recommended by the participants during the post training feedbacking is conducting disaster related activities per purok. Another is their call for concerted efforts of different sectors such as the Barangay Officials, Church, School, and other groups for disaster risk reduction initiatives. The call is in line with the Disaster resilience month theme that highlights the unifying efforts of all sectors and communities towards sustainable development.
