From the funding support of the Government of Canada through the Canada Fund for Local Initiatives (CFLI), 704 affected families from the four barangays of Bucloc, Abra was provided with relief assistance on September 2-4, 2022.

The Cordillera Disaster Response and Development Services Inc. (CorDisRDS) in cooperation with the Municipal Local Government Unit of Bucloc thru the Municipal Administrator Ms. Gybel Cardenas together with the MDRRM Officer Ferdie Bala-aos distributed the relief assistance among the barangays. Farm tools/clearing tools were also turned-over to the local government units respectively.

The relief assistance kicked off when a request letter was sent to the CorDisRDS by the Municipal Local Government Unit of Bucloc. The relief operation started with a short orientation undertaken from the monitoring, beneficiary listing and validation.  An introduction on CFLI as the donor and CorDisRDS as the implementing partner was likewise shared.  Finally, to ensure organized distribution, the steps was shared wherein beneficiaries have to undergo sanitation and verification prior to the releasing of goods. Likewise, feedback mechanisms were stationed during the activity to heed the concerns of the community.

Among the comments collated, one beneficiary from the feedback box stated that “the assistance is a great relief to our family”. The rice relief will last for a few weeks while the tools will serve as clearing equipment in times of disaster and at the same time for early recovery intervention on the part of the farmers.
