Tabuk City, Kalinga – February 19, 2025, a Mental Health Training successfully conducted at the Barangay Hall of Laya West, Tabuk City, as part of Project MindWell’s ongoing campaign to promote mental health empowerment within communities. This initiative follows the Training of Trainers on Mental Health held in November 2024, where participants from Laya West were equipped with the knowledge and skills to facilitate similar training sessions within their community.

As a continuation of the MindWell Project’s objective, the trained participants from Laya West organized a Stress Management and Parenting Training for their fellow community members. The session was attended by more than 40 participants of various age groups, with a majority being parents.

The training covered vital topics on stress management, including different techniques to cope with stress effectively. Additionally, the parenting part provided insights into various parenting styles and strategies to encourage healthier family relationships especially on proper child-caring. Participants found the discussions highly valuable, particularly the parenting part, as it allowed them to reflect on their own parenting approaches and identify ways to improve their interactions with their children.

During the training, there were also representatives from CARE Philippines and Tijori Foundation, who are partners of CorDisRDS for the MindWell Project. They attended as observers during the rollout training, providing support and insights for the initiative.

For the trainers, the experience was both rewarding and a learning opportunity. They acknowledged the need for further improvement in delivering topics effectively but expressed confidence that continuous practice and future sessions would enhance their facilitation skills. Encouraged by the positive response, they plan to conduct another similar training for a new set of participants, recognizing the need to extend mental health education to more community members.

Future initiatives will continue to build on this momentum, promoting resilience and mental health awareness within the community.
